GIH
was one of the pioneering institutions in Nepal to adopt the closed
ICU model, ensuring that all patients are managed under the
direct supervision of intensive care specialists. It was also the first
hospital in the country to introduce individual cubicle-style ICU rooms, a design
that significantly reduces the risk of cross-infection while enhancing patient
privacy.
In
addition to the adult ICU, GIH is equipped with specialized neonatal
and pediatric ICUs, each staffed by experts in their respective
fields. The hospital currently houses a total of 45 ICU
beds — 30 adult and 15 paediatric/neonatal
— making it one of the most comprehensive critical care facilities in the
region.
